Question Extremely slow download speed but normal upload speed

Hey guys. My download speed is extremely slow. similar really really slow. only my upload speed is ok. I just called my internet service provider and they said I seem to be getting normal speed which is fifty mb/s but when I run tests it shows a ridiculous 993 kb/s download speed and a normal 2.2 mb/due south upload speed. I have a ps4 continued via ethernet cable and iphone using wifi both indicatin very similar reaults. btw the router is huawei hg658c v2.
any thought what's going on?

Has the download ever been tedious or did this simply starting time out of the blue? Did you lot change anything around the time this started?
I assume you have tried bandwidth tests from a couple different places(speedtest.net, speedtest.googlefiber.internet, DSLReports, etc) and all show the same result. Practice you have any other devices on the network that you can test with? Bold all device show the same result (which I would expect since the PS4 and iPhone already do) and since your Isp has run basic tests on your line, then I think the culprit is most likely the router (or modem, if you have ane).
Router issues tin can be software or hardware. If information technology'southward hardware, then replacement is the only real selection. Simple software faults can be corrected by restarting the router. The adjacent stride up is a factory reset (make certain to note whatever special settings, passwords, etc considering they volition be reset). If that doesn't work, I would test with another router ... maybe something that can exist easily returned if the issue ends upwardly something else. Was your router provided by your ISP? What is their replacement policy if a router is faulty?

Hi again. I recently got the router. it's new but the event has been around for a while.
I use the modem provided past the isp and I didn't change anything. I tried resetting the modem but zero changed. I did test the connection using a different device simply the consequence is the aforementioned.

ii Routers doing the same affair makes me wonder almost the modem (especially now that i know you have 1) ... take y'all ever plugged a device direct into the modem and tested that way? Most modems have admin folio that you can log into ... accept you lot ever looked at that to see what your connectedness statistics are?

By all those metrics, your line is cracking. It has to exist something wrong with the modem or the Ethernet line you are using to connect to information technology. Ask your Internet access provider what their policy is on replacing modems. I call up they should exercise it costless, just not all ISPs agree with me.

I guess that'south my only pick. and so we agree that at that place's no trouble with the line or the cables between the principal box and my router. information technology has to be the modem. Cheers anotherdrew! I actually appreciate it.
